how to enable media share?

How do you make a public network private? I am trying to turn on media sharing so that i cant watch films from my laptop on my Xbox 360 but when i go to enable media sharing it says

“Your network is a public network. Sharing is disabled to protect your privacy.”

Does anyone know how to enable it or create a Private network? Im not great with computers so lamus terms would be appreciated.

I guess,you are using windows 7 in your computer as OS

Delete all SSID ( wireless networks ) from the ” manage wireless network” including yours also.
Then try to connect wireless. once your connected, it will ask you ” home,office or public”. Select home .. as simple as that..

If you are not getting this option. No worries, we have to do more steps.

Change your SSID and Password to WAP to WEP

Then try to connect wirelessly, now you will get option to choose “home” at the end of the connection

Make sure that you have enabled ” UPnP” option in the router configuration page for uninterepted play ( talking abt XBOX)..
