404 Error??

Hi guys, after the small break, lets get back to a new Topic, forgetting those ” Orange & Apple ” stuffs, lets talk something about technology,
well am sure most of you have surely come across a “404 error” page but if you never passed by one, here is a small description about what it is courtesy of Wikipedia

The 404 or Not Found error message is an HTTP standard response code indicating that the client was able to communicate with the server but either the server could not find what was requested, or it was configured not to fulfill the request and did not reveal the reason why. 404 errors should not be confused with “server not found” or similar errors, in which a connection to the destination server could not be made at all.

After spending some time analyzing my web server “404 page” i realized that the message had become too common and that it should surely change to something more funny and amusing ,
Thus i created my own “404 error” page with a bit of html & javacript that makes my web server talk to you and tell you its problems

After the news that Apple most Popular Gadget, the IPhone 3G will be available in Mauritius, i instantly went on Apple Site to know more about it, its features, enhancements etc… and to my astonishment,
I noticed that they are very bad at french, not even illiterate people in Mauritius talks like they do
I had a big LOL

The big event of this year, the revolution in technology, THE APPLE IPHONE 3G is finally available in Mauritius

The big event is scheduled for this Friday, you can already starting booking your Iphone, the advantage you get is you do not have to pay cash while buying the Iphone, you can settle it in monthly small payments which will be Automatically debited from you bank account
I know many of you already have an Iphone but a genuine is always better than a “Jailbroken” one
I have already booked mine, want yours??

Yes Google has done it again!! Today google launched a new feature on its popular email client GMAIL, which enables you to send SMS right from the chat window

Isn’t this great? This will certainly help u save some Bucks on your mobile lol

Orange porte à l’attention de ses clients et du public en général que des cartes COMPLIS ont été mises frauduleusement en circulation depuis hier.

Orange demande au public de ne pas acheter ces cartes COMPLIS qui seront rejetées par son système.

Par contre les cartes Orange sont toujours disponibles dans les boutiques Orange et chez tous les revendeurs agréés.

Une déclaration sur cette affaire a été consignée à la Police.

Be careful before buying prepaid cards, as old “complis & cellplus” logo’ed cards will not be accepted by orange system

Internet Bandwidth in mauritius

Following the recent issues concerning our countries internet connection reported by some bloggers and general public here :

i decided to do a research concerning this issue and the reasons why we are encountering these issues.
While doing my research i noticed that different parts of the country are getting less or more bandwidth, the following chart may give you some more details :

The two charts above clearly shows that P-louis is the only place where Bandwidth is high compared to other places where all places in the country should be same or different by just 1-5 kb/s,

advancing in my research i got to know that MT(mauritius telecom) bandwidth is constantly decreasing as currently MT is selling bandwidth to Nomad, DCL and other ISP’s as well as using it for its own customer’s and due to the lack of enough expertise in this field, bandwidth are being misused or wrongly allocated to different parties (ISP’s)

Further more i discovered that MT is using DSLAM of very bad qualities made in CHINA and as such internet connectivity is sucking!!!!

Despite the huge turnover profits of MT this year, they are reluctant to invest in better DSLAM and technologies, but one good thing is atleast they are turning towards Fibre Optic technology and as such 60 % of the country is already convered by this system but not yet operational.

We are still using those old pre-historic copper cables for our telephony and communication means

However to compete with the ever sucking MT, EMTEL is stepping in the market to provide internet connectivity at faster speed but at considerable prices!

One thing i would like to add is that MT is not to be blamed in this internet issues, all these are ORANGE (france telecom) strategy, as they own the internet & mobile division. This is what my research unveiled

I am yet to be affected with this connection issue but i just hope MT(orange) takes some serious step to improve their services as once EMTEL enters the market, MT is sure to lose its clients

and finally another thing;

concerning the INTERNET prices, here are some details why it is so costly

(a) MT makes us pay a certain percentage (%) for the network maintenance

(b) We pay for the customer service we get from them

(c) We pay for the terminals (echange) electrical costs
(d) We pay for the diesel/unleaded fuels they are using in their vehicles

(e) We pay the technicians who attend our place for repairs and other problems

** Ofcourse these are indirectly added to our internet rental without us knowing this because in truth we are paying only around 200-300 rs for our internet connection.

P.S (these are issues unveiled during my research and in no circumstances i intend to accuse MT for these)
